Reflecting on Meaning focuses on the exploration of meaning and fulfilment in work and life using The Map of Meaning as a framework.
It doesn’t matter whether you already have a reflective practice which you want to deepen or whether this is something new to explore.
There’s also no need to be familiar with The Map of Meaning®.
This program is a place to start and cultivate your meaning practice and get intentional about creating meaning opportunities in your everyday life.
Reflecting on Meaning is very flexible to fit around your life, regardless of the life stage you’re in, whether you’re working or not, or whether you’re no longer working or in a significant work transition through choice or circumstance.
“There is not one big cosmic meaning for all; there is only the meaning we each give to our life, an individual meaning, an individual plot, like an individual novel, a book for each person.”
What we’ll cover in our four months together:
Session 1: Discovering the Map of Meaning: by mapping your experiences you’ll get to know the dimensions of meaning and we’ll explore the emergent process of personal meaning making.
Session 2: Befriending tensions: using an arts-based process we’ll explore key tensions that arise when we pursue meaningful work and a meaningful life. You’ll notice how they show up in your life and get clearer on how to address any imbalances.
Session 3: Using the Map to reflect forward: you’ll work with a current intention, objective or vision and develop a plan for action as well as ways to renew your inspiration and energy for this endeavour.
Session 4: Designing your own meaning practice: you’ll develop your own reflective practice in which you use the Map as a tool to review and plan (reflecting on action and for action); you’ll integrate reflective writing, arts-based processes, reflective deep dives and regular micro-reflections, driven by your needs and preferences.
In-between the sessions you’ll receive short video invitations to explore the content of each session further and deepen your practice. They’ll invite you to capture meaning in multimodal ways in your meaning journal, deepen your understanding of the tensions of meaning and your underlying conditions for meaning and how you create or lose meaning in your life right now.
Throughout the program you’re encouraged to conduct meaning experiments and develop your personal meaning journal.
During the course of the program you also have access to my monthly Studio Sessions where you can connect with participants of previous programs and engage with your reflective practice.

What previous participants in Reflecting on Meaning said:
“I was feeling very stuck in my creativity and feeling anxious about a big life change that was looming. I jumped at the chance to participate in this program in the hope that the Map of Meaning would help me navigate through this new season in life and help spark some creative moments in my life again.
I loved that the Map of Meaning could be applied to every area of life. The sessions have helped me create a daily space to reflect on my day and art journal in a much more reflective way than I ever would have. It has helped create a rhythm for my day.
Conny was so good at gently steering the group and I felt very safe and able to share. I’m quite a private person and don’t like to share in groups... but Conny held the space beautifully and it felt very intimate and empowering. I came away from each session feeling able to make simple but powerful changes to my life.”
“The tools you invited us to use allowed me to make my creativity and my analytical mind work in tandem - and the strength thus harnessed is a revelation.
Using these tools and processes under your guidance was easy and exciting and it did take me from haze to clarity, from guilt to freedom and from worry to safety, or at least a very significant part of the way.
There was a most satisfying and exciting synergy between this group and other self-reflection opportunities in my life.”
Reflecting on Meaning is for you if…
You have a limitless curiosity for inner growth and might describe yourself as a deep thinker.
You enjoy self-paced practice in your own time as well as shared learning in a small group dynamic.
You are entering a period of change or transition, whether by choice or circumstance, and want to build a reflective toolkit to help you navigate this liminal space.
You come up against recurring patterns, in your relationships, emotions or behaviours, and would like to reshape these into something that serves you in the here and now.
You are in your middle years and ready for renewal and attending more to your own needs.
Your work is an important part of your life; you seek a safe and caring space to stay connected to your purpose and inspiration to keep your work meaningful.
Your life is full and your time for reflective moments tends to fall to the bottom of the list – but you know you could show up for yourself with the steady rhythm of a personalised practice and a small community.
You live a lot in your head and can get stuck in old stories and limiting thoughts – you wonder whether an intentional reflective practice would help you explore other ways of showing up in your life.
I invite and encourage creative processes in all my reflective practice groups.
This can take many forms and requires no experience with specific materials or artmaking techniques. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to experiment!
Reflecting on Meaning is less suitable for you if…
You prefer to follow a prescribed process for reflection.
You are looking for a program that teaches specific techniques to build your artistic or writing skills.
Experiential and hands-on processes aren’t your thing.
The idea of engaging in any self-paced practice and reflective experiments outside the group sessions doesn’t appeal to you.
You’re facing a more acute and significant life challenge/ crisis and don’t feel well-resourced. If you are unsure about this, don’t hesitate to book a free call with me to discuss your situation privately and in confidence to see whether we can ensure that you are appropriately resourced and supported to join this program.
Why I created Reflecting on Meaning
It took me quite some time to develop a reflective practice that truly worked for me. By that I mean:
a practice I actually do and can stick with
a practice that is engaging and supportive
and a practice that gives me clarity, insights and new ways of understanding myself.
I learned that for most of us a one-size-fits-all approach isn’t that helpful. The idea for Sensemaking Studio was born as a series of small group programs to shape and cultivate a reflective practice.
A practice needs to evolve with you. It needs to offer enough variety to remain interesting and has to be tailored to your day-to-day life to be sustainable. Otherwise, we risk that it turns into yet another thing on our to-do-list or something we beat ourselves up for doing badly.
In this 1-minute video, I share a little how I created my own reflective practice and how it evolves with my needs in a way that's sustainable and sustains me.
About my groups
I keep my groups small and intimate to allow for greater connection and flexibility to respond to the needs and preferences of participants.
All my groups are for adults only (18+).
My groups are introvert-friendly and I aim to invite you into processes that can flex and stretch around our unique ways of experiencing the world.
My groups are interactive and collaborative, but sharing is always optional. You won’t unexpectedly find yourself in a breakout room where you feel forced to share or facilitate the discussion.
As Reflecting on Meaning is online, you’ll need to bring your own materials. We may use some arts-based processes, but my groups don’t come with a long list of must-have supplies. There’s a lot of choice around using materials you have and modalities that suit your space, needs and preferences.
My groups are not recorded to protect everyone’s privacy as we co-create and share our experiences.
My small groups are a place for mutual support, and celebrations of new insights uncovered in our shared process.
I know that this way of engaging in reflective practice can go deep. You’ll always be able to check in with me outside of our group sessions to discuss what’s coming up for you. In addition, if a group session stirs a need for deeper work, you can engage in 1-on-1 coaching with me (at a reduced fee) alongside your Sensemaking Studio program.

A reminder of what you have accomplished.
With these insights, you can create the conditions for meaning, success, change, joy, rest, connection… whatever it is you seek more of.
