About your bundle of 6 Monthly Studio Sessions

  • Upon buying your 6-session bundle I’ll contact you to confirm whether there are months you want to put your name down for or whether you want to decide on a month-by-month basis.

  • If you decide to put your name down for certain session you can always change this until two weeks prior to the session.

  • In the event that I have to cancel any sessions throughout the year, thus reducing the number of options you can choose from, I’ll extend the time frame in which to use the 6 sessions.

About the 1-on-1 session

  1. This session is in addition to your 6 Monthly Studio Sessions:

  2. You will set the agenda for this 1-on-1 session: you might want to reflect on your overall practice to make adjustments, explore a specific intention for your practice, dive into topics like resistance or ‘reflecting in circles’, or deepen a reflective process you’d like to know more about.

  3. We’ll agree the date & time of your 1-on-1 session via email.

Monthly Studio Sessions are designed to help you cultivate a reflective practice tailored to your needs.

I’ll borrow the following words to outline how I approach reflective practice:

Reflection as a whole-body process of transforming experience into meaning to shape the future.
— Leticia Britos Cavagnaro (in: Experiments in Reflection)

These sessions are about personal meaning making.

  • We look with curiosity at our experience, our inner worlds, and how we relate to the outside world.

  • To make it a whole-body process we’ll be using processes that tap into our lower brain and the implicit and emotional knowing held there. We are open to noticing physical sensations and experimenting with embodied processes to gather data and information as part of our reflection.

  • We value reflection as a way to look back and make sense of the past and to reflect forward to shape our future and actions.

  • These session can help you find your own rhythm for reflection and provide gentle accountability.

What to expect:

  • A small group: we’re usually no more than 6 people and there’s no minimum group size, so you could find yourself practicing alongside just me!

  • A brief check-in around your intention for today’s practice.

  • A facilitated process for personal reflection to guide you.

  • Some time for quiet reflection to capture insights or what you’re coming to know.

  • Wrap-up with optional sharing.

  • The opportunity to ask questions around your practice or share with the group what you’re learning about cultivating a practice.

The practicalities

  • You’ll receive a calendar invite upon registration – this makes it easy to find the Zoom link and helps with getting the time zone conversion right.

  • A few days before our session, I’ll email you with more information (incl the Zoom link).

  • I open the Zoom room 5 minutes before our session starts and you’re welcome to join early and settle into the virtual space.

What to bring:

  • Always bring pen & paper or – if you have – bring your studio book, aka a journal, your reflective sketchbook, your meaning journal.

  • Bring a few art materials – whatever you have to hand or feel drawn to. Consider: markers, colour pencils, oil or soft pastels, a small set of water colours, some old magazines for collage and found poetry, scissors and glue stick, yarns or fabrics.

  • The facilitated processes I offer don’t require specific materials or any techniques. Our art making is all about inquiry and self-expression.

Over time, you are likely to build your reflective materials box which may include things like these:
